
(1) All individuals inspecting elevator equipment must undergo testing for compliance with Georgia elevator regulations and shall be certified inspectors. (2) To qualify for elevator inspector certification by the Office, individuals must possess a minimum of three (3) years of experience in the installation, repair, maintenance, or inspection of elevators and must be a current Qualified Elevator Inspector (QEI). (3) All private inspection firms conducting elevator inspections in the State of Georgia are required to maintain at least $500,000 in general liability insurance from a company approved by the Office. (4) Private inspection firms certified by the Office to inspect elevators must submit a signed contract for each inspection site to the Office of the Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner, along with a list of the equipment to be inspected. This contract must specify the initial inspection date and the expiration date. (5) Inspection reports must be submitted electronically; failure to do so will incur a $5.00 entry fee for each inspection report submitted in a non-electronic format.
